What are Tags?
In the context of sites containing blog posts, videos, and images, tags are defined as words or phrases which are used to systematically arrange and categorize the labelled pieces of content based on their relevance. Using tags increases the chances of users navigating your site and discovering topics of interest far more easily. Well-implemented tags also improve internal linking and on-site SEO, in addition to search engines recognizing them and improving thematic structure. In social media, tags or hashtags connect posts to larger conversations and communities, which in turn extend reach. Overall, the strategic use of tags improves content visibility while also improving user experience.
Examples of tags include tagging articles as “digital marketing” to organize them, tagging images of products as “spring sale” for seasonal browsing, and assigning “tutorial” to video demonstrations for easy filtering.
