What is Quality Index?

Analogous to Google Ads’ Quality Score, Yahoo! Japan has its metric entitled Quality Index, which ranges from 1 to 10. This score impacts your ad rank (position) as well as your actual cost-per-click within Yahoo! Ads. It considers expected click-through rate, the advertisement’s relevance, and the landing page’s holistic user experience to gauge how frequently and in what locations your ads are positioned. Greater Quality Index makes it possible to achieve lower CPCs while having better placement for the identical bids. While QS components are the same as Google’s, Yahoo!’s auction system has proprietary weighting and scoring thresholds. Copy, keywords, page experience, and ROI are tracked and optimized on the platform. Quality Index is monitored rigorously by advertisers.

Examples of managing Quality Index include reinforcing keyword group relevance with tighter ad relevance, enhancing headline and description to improve CTR, and improving load times and content of landing pages.
