What is Keyword Stuffing?

Keyword stuffing is the practice of placing an inordinate number of keywords in meta tags or other sections of a website’s content to artificially boost its visibility on search engines. This practice was easier to exploit in the past, as search engines did not have algorithms to punish irrelevant content. These days, such attempts are futile since modern algorithms tend to favor pages with contextually relevant keywords.

“It’s easier to run with the best running shoes,” is a sentence we could compose in a novel. However, possessing such an ability does not mean we will fill pages with it. Fulfilling the imaginary notion of every word having the ‘best running shoes’ is a flagrant example of keyword stuffing.
