A hashtag is a symbol used as a marker to group comments on social media with phrases and words so that they will be easily located in content. Users are given the option to either search for specific topics or follow essential updates. They will primarily focus on Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram for their posts. Marketers avail themselves of the opportunity to join in the conversations, which boosts visibility and improves the performance of the campaign.
The typical examples that are widely used are #ThrowbackThursday for nostalgic posts, #MarketingTips, which are directed towards giving advice, and #BlackFriday, which is used to highlight holiday sales.
