What Is Above the Fold?
Above the Fold refers to the portion of a webpage that is visible to a user without scrolling. In digital advertising, placing ads above the fold means they appear immediately when the page loads, giving them higher visibility and often better CTR (Click-Through Rate).
The term originally comes from newspapers, where the top half of the front page—visible when folded—was considered the most valuable space.
In web design and advertising, Above the Fold placements are typically more expensive because they’re more likely to be seen by users, which directly impacts viewability and performance.
